Building a Receiving Facility: Real World Experiences & Challenges

Krista Podwin, M.Sc., P.Eng. is an environmental engineer with over 25 years of experience and President of KSP Septic Inc. Her career encompasses a broad spectrum of engineering projects, with a recent and dedicated focus on design and engineering of onsite sewage systems in BC. Her recent work focuses on addressing wastewater volume limitations at receiving facilities within the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), where capacity constraints pose increasing challenges for sustainable wastewater management in the Interior West Kootenays of British Columbia.
Mrs. Podwin holds degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Regina, a Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Onsite Wastewater Management Association of British Columbia (WCOWMA). KSP Septic Inc. is currently leading the engineering design for All Around Environmental Ltd. wastewater receiving facility in Interior BC, a project initiated in fall 2025, which is focused on delivering practical, long-term solutions to regional wastewater capacity constraints.
