In 2001, I got my Recreation Therapy degree and certification from Temple University. I worked for 5 years and thought why couldn't I show my clients who might be interested in a dance class, which is what I taught on my days off. I was teaching a Bollywood Fusion class, and a BollyFit class in NY. ( My background is classical Indian dance and Bollywood .) After moving to TX, I trained in Introductory Ballet and Jazz and taught at local pre-schools. A couple years after that, I decided to make it official and create a business devoted to adaptive dance for all ages and all abilities. Currently, I have Adaptive Fusion Dance classes for all ages at Next Step Dance in Frisco, Adaptive Dance for Littles at 4 the Love of Dance in Frisco, an Adaptive Performance Dance workshop (ages 8+) at North Texas Performing Arts (Frisco/Plano/Fairview), Adaptive Chair Dance at the Dallas VA, and Adaptive Choreography (Assistant Directing) for musicals for NTPA Starcatchers shows (Frisco/Plano/Fairview). I am also an active Recreation Therapist, working with children and teens in the community, through various agencies. Therefore, these dance classes can be provided as part of the therapy hours as well. I also offer 1 on 1 classes, on an as-needed basis. My classes do get the assistance from volunteers who either have a passion for dance and/or enjoy helping others. We are always looking for helpers! We also welcome siblings or family members in the class to optimize the experience as needed. Check out http://www.jasminesbeat.com for more information!
