Simon Mallett is COO and Head of Risk Consulting and Operations for Risk Consulting and Operations. A former British Army officer, Simon is a highly regarded enterprise risk and business continuity management professional. A certified ISO 22301 Lead Auditor, Simon has led the development of Business Continuity Management Systems for companies ranging in scale from Fortune 500 to small and specialized engineering firms, and in sectors from IT, telecoms and oil & amp; gas to the humanitarian aid and development sectors. Extensively traveled, including in higher risk environments, Simon has lived and worked globally, including in Bangladesh, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Brazil, Colombia, Kenya, Ghana, India, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, South Sudan, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine and Zambia.
An excellent communicator, he is able to build rapport and trust rapidly with colleagues and clients and never fails to maintain it, working well at all levels, and in a multi-cultural setting. Simon is at ease with people at all levels in an organization and is a polished, fluent presenter and trainer. A recognized partnership builder, Simon’s work with schools across Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina has seen him create partnerships with academics and researchers, school psychologists, counselors and social workers, K-12 and Higher Education threat management consultants, and law enforcement to ensure the programs under his leadership reflect best practice and the highest caliber of subject matter expertise.
Simon is the chief technical author on RSM’s school security and resilience program, developing the training content for administrators, educators and school security personnel, on a range of subjects. Simon has directly delivered training to schools in North Carolina and advised on specific risk and vulnerability issues ‘on-the-ground’, ensuring the content and context of his work aligns with the practical application at school and School Authority level.
