Mr. John Allen has been Chief Safety Officer and Vice President at JetBlue Airways Corporation since September 2013. Mr. Allen was employed by the FAA until August 31, 2013 after 22 years with the agency in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility, served as its Director of Flight Safety Standards.
Mr. Allen was responsible for promoting the safety of flight for civil aircraft by setting regulations and standards for air carriers, air agencies, general aviation, airmen, and designees. Mr. Allen retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2009 as a Brigadier General after 31 years of active-duty and reserve service.
He holds BSBA Computer and Information Sciences from University of Florida from 1973 to 1977 and Master of Science (MS) Aeronautical Technology from Arizona State University from 1980 to 1982.
