Mr. Mike Cook has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since June 2020. He currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management, G-8 for the U.S. Army Materiel Command. In this position, he has a key role in managing the Command's day-to-day resource operations and responsible for the formulation and execution of an annual budget of over $55 billion, which is comprised of Appropriated Funds and Army Working Capital Fund activity. Mr. Cook directs, controls and monitors work through six division chiefs with a staff totaling 100. Previously, he served as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management, G-8 for the U.S. Army Materiel Command, Huntsville, AL. Mr. Cook completed a 28-year service as an Army officer before beginning his career as a Department of the Army Civilian. His significant financial management assignments while on active duty included: Comptroller, 20th Engineer BDE (ABN); Comptroller, U.S. Army War Reserve, Qatar; Program Analyst, XVIII Corps (ABN); Comptroller, 3/160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR); Executive Officer to the Director, Army Budget Office (ABO); Deputy Division Chief, OMA Current-Year Execution, ABO; G-8, 1st Cavalry Division; Director, Resource Management, Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), Executive Officer to the Military Deputy, ASA(FM&C), and G-8, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC). Mr. Cook was recognized with the ASA(FM&C) Comptroller of the Year (Army command level) and Military Capstone award in 2014. He was recognized as the military recipient of the McCall Award for Distinguished Service by the Syracuse University in 2015. He is a Certified Defense Financial Manager, with Acquisition specialty (CDFM-A), has achieved Level 3 DoD Financial Management Certification and is a Level 3 Certified Acquisition Professional in Business Financial Management.
