Sara A. Bayer is an Associate Principal and Director of Sustainability at Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP), where she manages energy efficient multifamily housing projects including two of the firm’s 10 NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence Award winners. She is also overseeing two NYSERDA Buildings of Excellence Early-Stage Design studies focused on regenerative design topics including “zero carbon,” and she leads the company's efforts to incorporate passive house strategies and carbon reduction methods across their portfolio. Named a Crain's New York Business Notable Leader in Sustainability in 2024, Sara was certified CPHC in 2016. She serves on the board of New York Passive House as chair of Membership Engagement where she leads the annual "Regenerative Metropolis" Symposium. Sara is a frequent speaker in forums focused on efficient and healthy technologies, including those at AIANY, NESEA, BEEX, Urban Green, and Passive House Accelerator, striving to make sustainable, healthy, and uplifting design achievable for all.
