Hiding in Plain Sight: Adaptive Reuse
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Thu
Sarah Meeker Jensen FAIA focuses on adaptive re-use of functionally obsolete
institutional buildings, especially healthcare buildings, at Avard Daniels Architecture
(AD). This interest stems from seeing many hospitals closed in recent years, and
realizing the great strength and potential for adaptive re-use of these facilities. Jensen
built Jensen Partners, a national healthcare planning firm, from 2002 to 2020. In
2021, she co-founded Avard Daniels to pursue a lifelong passion for the design and
project management of buildings which have an immediate and tangible impact on
people and society. She specializes in cost-effective adaptive re-use design and
project management with an emphasis on creating buildings which are both beautiful
and practical, and which make long term sense for the environment.
