Joel Martin is the Global Director of Asset Security and Crisis Management for Cargill, one of the world’s largest private companies. Cargill with its 150,000 employees provides food, agricultural, risk management, financial, and industrial products and services in more than 70 countries. He is responsible for Cargill’s Global Asset Security and Crisis Management programs along with its Security and Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Mr. Martin is also responsible for the partnership with our food safety group on Food Defense, Agro and Bio-Terrorism along with being the COE on regulatory programs such as CFATS and CTPAT, etc. Mr. Martin is a board member for the Department of State’s Overseas Advisory Council (OSAC) for the Middle East and North Africa Regional Council. Prior to his role at Cargill, Mr. Martin worked in Law Enforcement both as a Deputy with a County Sheriff’s office and a Police Officer in a municipal police department. It was during this time he developed a county wide crime analysis center, created an Active shooter response for school districts and private businesses. He also ran the their physical security programs for the court security and school districts and developed new strategies through the use of CPTED and other design principles. During his career in law enforcement Mr. Martin was presented many meritorious awards for his actions in the line of duty.
