George Fatheree is a social impact entrepreneur, housing advocate and legal trailblazer who navigates complex legal and financial systems to pursue justice and equity.
George is the Founder and CEO of Oro, a next-generation employee housing benefits company offering high impact pathways to homeownership and housing wellness to strengthen the workforce, differentiate employer brand and empower employees to build long-term wealth.
Before launching Oro, George was widely known for orchestrating the return of Bruce’s Beach, the first time in US history the government returned land to a Black family. George led the $30 million acquisition of the Ebony and Jet photography archives out of bankruptcy and secured the return of artworks created by 19th century enslaved pottery-maker David Drake, marking the first time ethical restitution has been applied to art created by enslaved labor. Whether securing reparations for Holocaust survivors or advocating for students with disabilities, George consistently applies elite transactional strategies to secure justice for marginalized stakeholders.
George is a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Resident, recipient of the Living Legends Award for Service to Humanity and was twice named a California Lawyer Attorney of the Year. He’s a graduate of Harvard University and Loyola Law School.
