David started using the Brown mainframe in 1972 at age 11. He is Brown CS class of '83, Ph.D Boston University 2000. He was a FRESS user, and as a ugrad worked with Henry Kučera and Steve DeRose on spelling correction. Involvement with Brown CHUG, led to SGML and the Text Encoding Initiative, and participation in the W3C's XML and XLink standards groups. His dissertation was on collaborative text editing, with fully-revisable history. He is a founder and CTO of Tizra, an integrated platform for delivering, selling and managing content on the internet. After inheriting old mainframe tapes from Brown CS, he has re-animated FRESS under the Hercules emulator.
