4:25 PM - 5:05 PM Thu
Elli Mylonas was a graduate student in Classics at Brown University. She became involved with humanities computing and with other colleagues and friends organized an informal but long lasting regular gathering - the Computers and the Humanities User Group (CHUG) which lasted from the mid '70s to the late '90s. In 1987 she started working on the Perseus Project, a hypertext project on Ancient Greek and Latin, at Harvard University. She returned to Brown as one of the founding members of the Scholarly Technology Group which was very involved in the use and development of SGML, XML and the Text Encoding Initiative. In 2003, STG moved into the library and became the Center for Digital Scholarship. Since 2018, Elli has been the director of CDS.
