Jim was a graduate student at Brown and is now Professor of English at Louisiana SU Baton Rouge, Director of the Program in Screen Arts, and faculty in Women’s and Gender Studies. He has published a variety of articles directly related to the use of computing in literature and writing at Brown and elsewhere, among them "Poetry and Computers: Experimenting with the Communal Text." His research also looks at a variety of materials addressing masculinity, working class studies, and narrative theory. His printed works include Ragged Dicks: Masculinity, Steel, and the Rhetoric of the Self-Made Man. His additional work in video production includes the documentary film An Enduring Legacy: Louisiana’s Croatian Americans (Louisiana Public Broadcasting) continues screening nation-wide as part of the REEL SOUTH and World Channel series. Currently, he is working on a related documentary, “Golden Door: The Question of Immigration.”
