10:15 AM - 11:15 AM Fri
Glenis M. Scott, Jr., MPH blends hometown pride with big-picture vision to advance health equity for Black and LGBTQ+ communities across New Orleans. After earning his BS in Public Health at Dillard University and his MPH from Tulane’s School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, he’s spent more than ten years designing and directing grassroots programs—from field research on chlamydia prevention to leading citywide HIV testing festivals. Today, as CrescentCare’s Manager of BIPOC Communities and Project Director for major CDC and SAMHSA grants, Glenis steers two of the clinic’s most dynamic outreach efforts: The Movement, which centers Black MSM for testing and care, and No Wrap No Tap, a youth-driven education and substance-use initiative. He’s the architect of the Highschool Internship Program, a youth peer-educator pipeline, and the creator of NOLA SHAAD Week, a weeklong celebration of Black resilience and HIV/AIDS awareness. Rooted in community storytelling, faith partnerships, and second-line energy, Glenis brings warmth, real-world know-how, and a fierce dedication to every room he enters—empowering people to claim the care and justice they deserve.
