Lisa is often found managing the Properties Department for the Skylight Music Theatre, where she is in her twenty ninth season. She is also an active member of the national prop professional organization The Society for Properties Artisans & Managers. An Augustana College BA alumna in music and theatre, and a 1988 graduate of the MFA program in Theatre Technology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Ms. Schlenker has crafted props and managed shops for theatres throughout the upper Midwest for over 30 years, and enjoys scenic design with a variety of Wisconsin based theatres. Projects of particular joy include scenic designs with Theatre X (Singing in a Strange Land), Milwaukee Shakespeare, (Macbeth) Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (The Train Driver; Great Expectations), First Stage (Just A Little Critter Musical; Cat in the Hat), Skylight Opera Theatre (Rent; The Rivals; Hair; Cenerentola; Tosca), Florentine Opera (L’Elisir de Amor), Milwaukee Opera Theatre (Tales of Hoffman; Doc Danger), and Northern Sky Theater (Windjammers; Strings Attached; Doctor Doctor; No Bones About it; Naked Radio, Boxcar, Dairy Heirs). Lisa’s book with co-author Sandra Strawn: The Properties Director’s Tool Kit is available on Amazon and from Focal Press. Value persistence, always learn, listen, and be kind.
