Nabra Nelson is the Community Engagement Associate at Milwaukee Repertory Theater. Her work at Milwaukee Rep has reached over 45,000 audience and community members and engaged over 80 local community organizations through collaborations and partnerships. She is a director, playwright, dramaturg, and community organizer from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Cairo and is a Founding Company Member of the Milwaukee-based women-of-color performance troupe Heard Space Arts Collective. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and was the President of the Women’s Ensemble Theatre Troupe and a member of the Multicultural Drama Company in Santa Barbara, both of which used theatre as a tool for social justice. (Renaissance Theaterworks), 26 Miles (UW-Milwaukee), Rep Lab 2016 & 2017 (Milwaukee Rep), Exile From The Land Of Gold (Tessellate Festival), Death And The Kings Horseman (reading, American Players Theatre), and Clarence (reading, Ten Chimneys). Regional Assistant Directing credits: Back Home Again: On the Road with John Denver, A Christmas Carol, Of Mice and Men, American Song (Milwaukee Rep), The Liar (Santa Cruz Shakespeare), and Appoggiatura (Denver Center for the Performing Arts). Playwriting credits: Induced Labor (ReOrient 2019 honorable mention, Golden Thread Productions) and Nubian Stories (Br!NK New Play Festival, Renaissance Theaterworks).
