Marie Kohler is a co-founder of Renaissance Theaterworks in Milwaukee, for which she served as Co-Artistic Director for 20 years. She is a professional actor, producer, director, dramaturg and a freelance writer for local and national publications. Kohler has directed plays for Renaissance Theaterworks and Milwaukee Chamber Theatre and has studied directing at the Barrow Group Theater in New York City. Kohler’s own plays have received significant recognition, including several nominations for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. (Her play MIDNIGHT AND MOLL FLANDERS, produced by UW-Parkside, is currently being presented at the Madison KCACTF.) She has served twice before as a KCACTF respondent (once for playwriting, once for directing). Kohler is a board member of the Wisconsin Humanities Council and holds a BA with Honors from Harvard University and an MA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She lives in Milwaukee and Spring Green, Wisconsin.
