Dr. Smith holds a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University, and an M.S., and Ph.D. in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan. He conducted his postdoctoral research at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at M.I.T. His lab's research centers on understanding how the brain generates reward, motivation, actions, and habits.
