Transforming Buffalo: Lessons learned from key projects and economic drivers

“Ben” Upshaw is a graduate of New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate where he received a master’s degree in real estate development. After graduating, he was employed with the New York City Housing Partnership as Director of Finance and then as Vice President of Real Estate Development at Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement. During these years as a mid and upper-level real estate executive, he was responsible for closing over $500MM of real estate projects that served low to moderate income households within the City of New York area. These experiences lead him to form his own real estate development firm, CB-Emmanuel Realty, LLC, in 2005, with his business partner Richard Bramwell, Jr.
Ben Upshaw serves on various boards including the state Advisory Board of Enterprise Community Partners, M&T Bank Affordable Housing Advisory Council, Villa Maria College President’s Advisory Council, University of Buffalo master’s in real estate development Advisory Committee, and Community Preservation Corporation ACCESS Advisory Council. Ben resides with his family in Clarence, NY.
