Getting beyond Tongue-tied with folks who want their tubes tied

Dr. Schwarz, a Professor of Medicine at UCSF and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital, has a particular interest in identifying ways to meet the needs of diverse populations, including women with chronic medical conditions and other underserved populations. Her research, which has been funded by AHRQ, HRSA, PCORI, FDA, NICHD, the Office of Population Affairs, and the Office of Adolescent Health, has produced over 190 peer-reviewed publications. An award-winning mentor, Dr. Schwarz has worked closely with multiple junior faculty on career development awards, as well as postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students. A proud product of California’s public school system, Dr. Schwarz received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley prior to receiving her doctorate from UCSF. After residency training in primary care internal medicine at UCSF, Dr. Schwarz completed a fellowship in women’s health services research at UCSF. Dr. Schwarz has served as Medical Consultant for California’s Office of Family Planning, a Senior Medical Expert for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and on the FDA's Advisory Committee on Reproductive Health Drugs.
