Dr. Sawaya is Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the University of California, San Francisco. He is Director of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Colposcopy Clinic and Director of the Colposcopy Clinic at UCSF. He is a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators and serves as the Director of the UCSF Center for Healthcare Value. On a national level, he has served as an invited expert to NCI, ASCCP, CDC and the American Cancer Society. He is a former member of the US Preventive Services Task Force. His current NCI-funded research program focuses on optimizing benefits and minimizing harms and costs of cervical cancer screening.
