TG1: Gender dimensions in transboundary water management

A dedicated Social Scientist with a strong focus on gender equality and social development programming, as well as expertise in research, policy development, and advocacy. With a wealth of experience spanning several years, she has been at the forefront of gender equality and social development efforts across diverse sectors within East Africa.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated extensively with Government bodies, international and national Non-Governmental Organizations, contributing hands-on leadership and overseeing the effective integration of gender perspectives into all programs and projects. She has taken a pivotal role in successfully guiding the implementation of various gender equality and social development projects funded by renowned institutions such as ADA, SIDA, FCDO, Adaptation Fund, NORAD, World Bank, DFID, DANIDA, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN WOMEN, SIDA, GIZ, AFDB, IFAD, EU, and USAID.
She has held key positions, currently serving as the Regional Gender Advisor at GWPEA, Previously, at the United States Peace Corps, Uganda, Norwegian People’s Aid, UNDP/IGAD Regional Capacity Building Initiative Programme, and the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development. Her roles encompassed providing gender technical advice, coordinating programs, and fostering gender mainstreaming.
Additionally, she has made significant contributions as a consultant to numerous institutions and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Her consultancy work has involved guiding gender mainstreaming, conducting gender assessments/audits, and developing gender-related policies and action plans. Noteworthy organizations I've supported include The Water Trust (TWT) Uganda, Global Rights Alert, UN Women Liberia, United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) in South Sudan, African Development Bank, GEEM Project in South Sudan, Techno Serve/Feed the Future/USAID Producers Activity, National Union for Women and Girls with Disabilities (NUWODU), Intra-Health Uganda, Engender Health Uganda, and the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) Uganda.
Her academic journey includes a Master of Arts degree in Development Studies with a specialization in Women, Gender, and Development from the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Netherlands. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University Uganda. Furthermore, She pursued postgraduate certificates in law from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, and training in peacebuilding and conflict transformation from the University of Peace Education, Austria. She has attended various gender related short courses. She is a certified Uganda National Gender and Equity budgeting trainer.
Her unwavering passion for gender equality and women's empowerment drives her continuous dedication to fostering positive change in society.
