Jana Riess is a senior columnist for Religion News Service and the author or co-author of many books, including The Next Mormons: How Millennials Are Changing the LDS Church and the memoir Flunking Sainthood. She has a PhD in American religious history from Columbia University, an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a B.A. from Wellesley College. She recently finished serving as the president of the Mormon Social Science Association, and currently co-chairs the Mormon Studies steering committee for the American Academy of Religion. She also serves on the board for Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. She has spent 25 years as an editor in the publishing industry, including jobs at Publishers Weekly and Westminster John Knox Press.
