The "Why" and the "How" to utilize Facility Dogs when working with victims and children

Sarah Grabner has been working in the field of victim services in Oregon for over 20 years. She has been employed with the Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office as a Crime Victim Advocate for the past 11 years specializing in person crimes of domestic violence, sexual abuse, child physical abuse, and homicide. Sarah serves as a member of the Yamhill County Victim Services Crisis Response Team, Yamhill County Multi-disciplinary Child Abuse Team (MCAT), Domestic Violence Task Force (DVTF), Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT), and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Additionally, since the beginning of 2014 she has been the Yamhill County District Attorney’s Courthouse Facility Dog Handler. Sarah is a certified Facility Dog Handler through Canine Companions for Independence and is the Oregon Program Leader for Courthouse Dogs Foundation.
