Michael Bourke is the Chief Psychologist for the United States Marshals Service and is the head of the USMS Behavioral Analysis Unit. He has served as a clinical psychologist and federal law enforcement officer for 19 years. Prior to joining the Marshals Service in 2008 he worked as a clinical psychologist for the federal prison system's Sex Offender Treatment Program. After graduating from the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute in 2002, he conducted several hundred polygraph examinations of incarcerated sex offenders. He is the principal author of the Butner Study, several seminal works on the use of Tactical Polygraph with sex offenders, and a recent textbook on Behavioral Criminology. He provides regular consultation on sexual criminality, interviewing/interrogation techniques, and psychological safeguarding of law enforcement personnel.
