Mr. Herrera is the Celonis Lead for Department of War (DOW) business system and audit remediation requirements. He possesses over 38 years of Defense financial management and consulting experience. Prior to joining Celonis, Mr. Herrera was a Managing Director with KPMG US, supporting the Defense Advisory practice where he led and supported DoW advisory projects for the Department of the Air Force (DAF), the Department of the Navy (DoN), the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) Comptroller and the combatant commands. Prior to becoming a DoW consultant Mr. Herrera was a career Department of the Air Force civilian and member of the Senior Executive Service. His final federal position was Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Financial Management and Comptroller, DAF. In this role he was responsible for overseeing the budgeting, cost estimating and financial operations of more than $193 billion in annual resources. He was also responsible for the professional development of more than 13,000 military and civilian members of the Air Force financial management community. Mr. Herrera has also served as the Deputy for Budget, for the DAF where he was responsible for planning and directing budget formulation and execution activities for all Air Force and Space Force appropriations. He led a staff of civilian and military financial managers who developed, defended and executed funding that supported worldwide military operations and DAF priorities. Outside of Defense Financial Management, Mr. Herrera held executive level positions as Deputy Director of Staff, Headquarters United States Air Force and as Executive Director, Air Force Special Operations Command. Mr. Herrera is a member of the Society of Defense Financial Managers and holds a position on the National Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Air Force Association and the Air Commando Association. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Science in Management from Troy University, completed Air War College through Air University and is a Senior Fellow with the Council for Excellence in Government. He is also a Certified Defense Financial Manager (Acquisition)
