D2-The role of faith organisations in sustaining social prescribing
1:50 PM - 2:10 PM Tue
Tamara Espinet began her career as a nurse and paramedic, where she saw firsthand how social determinants of health impact wellbeing—often beyond what clinical care can address. This led her to social prescribing and a passion for community-led responses to loneliness and disconnection. As a committed Christian, Tamara sees churches as uniquely positioned to offer holistic, relational care. Since the beginning of NAYBA Australia, she has led research into the social impact of faith communities and champions their role as vital partners in addressing Australia’s loneliness crisis.
