1:30 PM - 2:00 PM Thu
April is a technical Officer at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, supporting WHO Member States in building healthier, more inclusive communities as our world rapidly ages. At WHO, I support 38+ WHO member states and areas with • Strengthening evidence and facilitating knowledge exchange on healthy ageing strategies • Developing policy tools for healthy ageing and community-based integrated care, including social prescribing and ICOPE • Initiating cross-sector action for age-friendly, climate-resilient, and socially connected environments I also serve as Innovation Focal Point for the Division of Healthy Environments and Populations Before joining WHO, I worked on maternal and child health, genetic testing, tobacco control, and tuberculosis research across Asia and Africa — giving me a broad view of public health systems and the need for integrated solutions. I hold an MPH from the University of Toronto and am currently pursuing a DPhil in Translational Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Having grown up across Korea, Malaysia, and Iran, I’m comfortable working in multicultural environments and bring a global perspective to advancing healthy ageing and inclusive public health systems.
