Dr Rowan is the State Member (LNP) for Moggill. He is the Assistant Minister to the Premier on Matters of State and New Citizens and Leader of the House in the 58th Queensland Parliament.
Dr Rowan was previously the Shadow Minister for Education and Shadow Minister for the Arts in the 57th Queensland Parliament. Shadow Minister for Communities, Shadow Minister for Disability Services and Seniors and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Partnerships in the 56th Queensland Parliament. He has also been a Shadow Minister for the Environment and Heritage Protection and Shadow Minister for National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as being a former Deputy Chair of the Health, Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee.
Dr Rowan is a Patron of UpBeat Arts, an Honorary Ambassador for Diabetes Queensland, and a Vice-Patron of Surf Life Saving Queensland.
Dr Rowan is a Specialist Physician in Addiction Medicine, Community and Population Health and Medical Administration.
Dr Rowan is a Senior Visiting Medical Officer at The Wesley Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital. He is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at Griffith University and a Clinical Tutor with the Uniting Care Clinical School.
Dr Rowan is a former Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Uniting Care Health and Director of Medical Services at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital. He has held senior corporate executive positions within Queensland Health, including as Deputy Executive Director of Rural and Remote Medical Services.
Dr Rowan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ Chapter of Addiction Medicine, the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, the Australasian College of Health Service Management, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He is a member of the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs. Dr Rowan completed his Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of Queensland.
Dr Rowan has a Masters of Diplomacy and Trade from Monash University specialising in international relations, trade, contemporary politics, global health and public policy.
