Dr. Jacob is Chief Quality Officer of M Health Fairview. He has been serving as CQO for M Health Fairview since December 2018, a system that employs 36,000 people, across 11 hospitals, including an academic medical center, 1 post-acute facility, nursing homes and over 70 clinics. He has oversight over patient and employee safety, regulatory, inpatient and outpatient quality, infection prevention. Dr. Jacob stated his career in primary care as an Internist/ Pediatrician helping to start the first IM/Peds primary care practice in Minneapolis/ St. Paul in 1998. He practiced primary care for 7 years, where he served as Medical Director. He returned to the University of MN in 2005 to start the first Pediatric Hospitalist program in the Twin Cities area. This program grew to become one of the largest divisions in the Department of Pediatrics at the U of M and had programs at four different facilities. After getting his MHA, he became Chief Medical Officer at the University of MN Masonic Children’s Hospital from 2012-2018 where he led efforts to reduce preventable harm and improve patient experience. He continues to practice IM and Pediatrics in primary care and as a hospitalist at the U of M Masonic Children’s Hospital.
