Workshop Session #3B
2:05 PM - 3:00 PM Sat
Rose Acerra was elected National PTA Vice President of Advocacy in June 2023. Her goals for her term include mentoring PTA leaders from all levels and empowering them to be strong advocates for all children.
Her previous volunteer service for the National PTA includes two terms as a Member Representative on the Board of Directors and service on several National PTA committees under seven National PTA Presidents. Rose Acerra has been a dedicated PTA advocate since her first son entered Kindergarten in a public school in New Jersey nearly 30 years ago. She is proud to continue her PTA journey as an officer of the National PTA.
Rose also served as the State President of the New Jersey PTA from 2016 to 2019 and most recently served as the Federal Legislative Chair for her state PTA. As president of the New Jersey PTA, Acerra led efforts to pass legislation for daily recess for all students from Pre-K to 5th, Preschool Expansion, and advocated for a fairer state education funding formula and higher academic standards for all students across the state.
Rose has continuously worked to get parents a seat at the table whenever it was necessary to include the parents' voices. Rose believes that advocating for Family Engagement and partnering with other education associations and school communities ensures that students receive the education they deserve and helps support student success. Acerra's efforts were recognized in 2017 when she was honored with the National PTA Shirley Igo Advocate of the Year award.
Rose is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband, Rob, and her sons, Rob Jr., Richie, and Raymond.
