Michele Shampoe, M.Ed. currently helps lead literacy efforts, K-12, for Spring Independent School District in a Lead Development/Literacy Lead position for Instructional Services. She is the founder, creator and owner of Integrated Reading and Writing Tutoring and Consulting. Michele earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and Master’s degree in Educational Administration both from The University of Texas - Pan American. Her 30 years background experience in the field of education has included teacher, instructional coach and administrator at the campus level. At the district level, she has designed and led Induction, Response to Intervention, Summer School, Dyslexia, Coaching and Intervention initiatives/programmatic expectations/supports. Her current work is focused on culturally relevant coaching and leading culturally relevant literacy initiatives that positively impact instruction, student achievement and overall literacy levels to ensure equity for all students. Michele is extremely passionate about literacy and believes without question that literacy, grounded in best practice, can absolutely disrupt the school to prison pipeline trend affecting our most at-risk youth. Michele has extensive district, state, and national experience in the area of designing and presenting professional learning for educators. Inspiring and motivating educators to take appropriate, yet innovative instructional action is what drives Michele’s continued commitment and dedication to her work.
