Dr. Jim Smith serves as the was the Assistant Superintendent for Planning and Engagement in Academy District 20, in Colorado Springs. Dr. Smith has served in a variety of capacities in the District 20, including English teacher and Dean of Students at Aspen Valley HS, Assistant Principal and Principal of Eagleview Middle School, and Executive Director for Learning Services. In his current role of Assistant Superintendent for Planning and Engagement, Dr. Smith provides leadership for the district strategic plan, supervision of high schools, facilitating various committees, leading accountability efforts, and leading research and the development of innovative practices in Academy District 20.
