Dr. Ramel “Kweku Akyirefi ” Smith was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a proud product of Milwaukee Public Schools. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He later went on to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and graduated with a Masters of Science in Educational Psychology and Doctorate of Philosophy in Urban Education with an emphasis in School Psychology.
Dr. Smith is a licensed psychologist in the state of Wisconsin. A clinical psychologist by trade, Dr. Smith has had the opportunity to develop his skill set in varying arenas throughout his career. In addition to his work with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Milwaukee Public Schools, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Fresh Start Family Services, Milwaukee Bucks, LLC, and the National Football League (NFL); Dr. Smith appears regularly as a commentator and psychological consultant for local and nationally syndicated radio and television outlets.
Since 2007, Dr. Smith has been the President of BLAQUESMITH Psychological Consultative Services, LLC. In this capacity, he conducts scores of workshops, seminars, and presentations with professional sports teams, governmental agencies, corporate entities, community organizations, and educational institutions. He has authored several scholarly journal articles and book chapters, edited a book, and co-authored a book entitled "Building A Better Man."
Dr. Smith and his wife Stacey reside in Brown Deer, WI, and are the proud parents of five children: Joie Michael, Maya Alisia (deceased), Jonah Herman, Noah Robert, and Skye Alyxandra Kathryn
