Beyond the Domestic Realm: Using International Human Rights Mechanisms to Hold the U.S. Accountable for Racial Injustice in the Child Welfare System

Alexandria Ware is a child welfare expert and dedicated advocate for young people and their families with experience working in community-based services, state systems, and on national policy. She currently is The Arthur Gochman Child and Family Advocacy Fellow. Before joining Children’s Rights, she was at K-State Research and Extension (KSRE) as a 4-H Youth Development Agent. Before joining KSRE, she was at Think of Us, Virtual Support Services, as their Program Manager, where she was the Research Coordinator for the Away from Home Report and vital to creating the foundation for the Virtual Support Services Department.
Most recently, she has been the co-founder and co-host of Diaries of a Black Girl in Foster Care podcast that highlights the intersectionality and experiences of black girls in foster care. She also serves as a national federal consultant, Support Coach, and trainer for National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) Reviewers through JBS International Inc. Alexandria is also the founder of Culture Creations Inc. supports Black and Brown young adults in and from foster care (ages 16-21) with returning to indigenous modes of healing, community, and transformation, ensuring they leave foster care with the support in place to live holistically healthy lives.
