Ophelia T. King is deeply committed to removing systemic barriers to student success while creating opportunities that enable all children to discover and be proud of who they are, and have a plan for reaching their optimum success. Her 23 years as an educator include working as a school counselor, mentor, coach, and currently serving as a district-wide Manager for School Counseling in the Milwaukee Public Schools District.
As the district’s school counseling leader, Ophelia guides school counselors in K-12 grades with a focus on student success. Ophelia has worked passionately at training, leading, and retaining high-quality, school counselors. She continues to improve and implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support all students and counselors including: implementing district-wide classroom guidance curriculum, academic and career student and parent conferencing, and career exploration opportunities for students beginning in kindergarten. She believes as educators, parents, and society we have a responsibility to create an environment of hope, love, and the very best conditions when it comes to providing children with quality education that will enable them to become confident, successful learners who can achieve their aspirations.
Ophelia’s academic achievements include Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology, Administrative Leadership, and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Winona State University in English.
