Crime Stoppers - Dealing with Illicit Trade
2:30 PM - 2:45 PM Thu
David first joined Crime Stoppers of York Region in 2000 after completing his term as President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Toronto Region.
In 2006, David Chaired the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers Provincial Training Conference hosted in York Region and that same year became Chair of Crime Stoppers of York Region where he remains a Past Chair and Director. He was elected to the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers in 2008, was elected First Vice President in 2009, and served as President from 2012 to 2016 and now serves the Board as Past President.
Additionally, David has served as the President of the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association since 2016 to present, and is the Canadian elected representative to Crime Stoppers International since 2012 and was elected the CSI 2nd Vice President in 2016..
Recognizing an inherent dependency for Crime Stoppers programs to rely on 3rd party for profit vendors to answer tip lines, David convinced a small number of like-minded associates to support his vision to create and launch in 2017 the world’s first National Anonymous Call Centre, a not-for-profit dedicated to supporting Crime Stoppers programs across North America in receiving phone and web based tips from the public to disseminate to law enforcement partners.
In 2016 David received Crime Stoppers International’s Coralie Wagner Memorial Award for his outstanding performance and commitment to community cooperation and leadership on a local, national and international level. In 2018 he was recognized with the Gary Murphy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers.
In addition to his volunteerism with Crime Stoppers David is an active cottager, a very proud father of two adult daughters, an avid sportsman, antique car enthusiast, handyman and independent businessman.
