Gender and Youth in Transboundary Water Management (Join Session)

Mr.Ahabwe is a PhD Fellow in the Department of Sociology, Makerere University where he has research interests in the water-technology nexus. He has participated in numerous assignments addressing Water Security and catchment-based water resources management. Gerald Zihembire AHABWE is a practicing Environmental Sociologist with seventeen years of experience in project management, particularly in social risk management.
Mr Ahabwe has undertaken hands-on trainings in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment; Environmental and Social Audits, Migration and Health; Advanced Research Methods; Agro-ecology; Sustainable Management of Urban Water and Sanitation; IWRM; Climate Change and Water Security; Corporate Governance and Effective Communication. Mr Ahabwe is a member of the Uganda Association of Impact Assessment (UAIA) and is a certified Environmental and Social Practitioner by Uganda’s National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).
Mr. Ahabwe‘s areas of expertise are in Design and Execution of Social Safeguard Protocols and Social Risk Management. He is experienced in Stakeholder Engagement, Impact Assessments, Baseline Studies, Mid Term Reviews, Project Evaluations, Due Diligence Studies, Gender and Social Integration Studies, Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups Management Studies, Socio-Economic Surveys, Climate Resilience, Strategic Social and Environmental Assesssment (SSEA), Catchment-Based Water Resources Management, Water Source Protection, Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Planning, Livelihood Restoration Assessments, and Performance Improvement Plans. He has mainly worked on infrastructural projects addressing Roads and the Water-Environment-Energy-Nexus.
