Phouthamath currently is currently a Socio-Economic Specialist under the Planning Division at the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS). She has more than 15 years professional experiences working in multidisciplinary with knowledge and passion in the areas of socio-economic development, gender and vulnerability, water resource management, and sustainable and inclusive development with various international organisations such as MRCS, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and UNDP in Lao PDR. She has been trained and experienced in the development, formulation, and implementation of the socio-economic development programmes, including the gender-related activities. She holds multiple degrees, including a Master Degree of Development Studies, majoring in Planning for Social Development in Australia, a professional programme and Master courses of Public Policy Analysis in the United State and a Bachelor of Economics in Lao PDR.
