Curtis + Ginsberg Architects LLP (C+GA) is an award-winning architecture and planning firm whose work focuses on serving the needs of our clients, the community, and the environment. The firm was founded in 1990 by Roberta Darby Curtis AIA, and Mark Ginsberg FAIA, LEED AP, on the belief that everyone deserves access to quality design, and that design can effect positive change for individuals and communities. C+GA is a certified women-owned business (WBE). C+GA has completed a wide range of residential, commercial, academic, and cultural projects for public, private, and nonprofit organizations. The firm is a recognized expert in the design of sustainable mixed-use, multi-family, and supportive housing and institutional projects. Our expertise in new construction and the rehabilitation of existing buildings has resulted in the completion of over 25,000 housing units in New York, with approximately 1,800 new and the transformation of 3,000 existing units currently in various stages of design. Our commitment to designing quality mixed use developments coincides with our belief that everyone deserves to live, work, and play in well designed, comfortable spaces. Much of our work is on a repeat basis for public and private clients who we have served for many years. Whether the project is a new building, a rehabilitation, or a planning study, C+GA helps each client realize a design that enables them to serve their mission. We are committed to ensuring that each project serves its immediate users and its surrounding community. We have completed numerous LEED projects, over 65 buildings in the Enterprise Green Communities program, and are a leader in Passive House (PHIUS and iPHA) certified design, with over 22 Passive House projects in New York City. Our leadership in sustainable multi-family design is recognized nationally, as the first architect to be awarded the 2021 Ivory Prize for Innovation in Sustainable Affordable Housing; and rankings in the Building Design + Construction’s 2023 Top 170 University Sector Firms and Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2023 Top 100 Green Design Firms. In addition, we have taken a lead role in the architecture community’s resiliency efforts following Hurricane Sandy, working with municipalities, public agencies, developers, and civic groups to build more resilient communities. Our thoughtful design process places special emphasis on analyzing the client’s goals, both functional and aesthetic, as well as the site, the program, and the budget, to create a design solution that serves the needs of the client and the project’s users, while also considering the broader community and the environment. Each project begins with a conversation that continues throughout the design process, as we listen carefully to the client and stakeholders to understand their priorities and concerns to create the best possible project. We avidly pursue design excellence, and our work reflects our commitment to quality.
