NYCEEC, the first local green bank in the US, was established in 2010 by New York City to support the city’s building energy efficiency goals. As a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, NYCEEC is a leader in deploying green capital and driving investment to support rooftop solar, energy storage, and high-performance building projects not only in New York, but also in the surrounding region, including the corridor from Washington, DC to Boston. NYCEEC’s mission is to deliver financing solutions and advance markets for energy efficiency and clean energy in communities, and its vision is energy efficiency and clean energy financing for communities to achieve scale and be accessible to all. NYCEEC has provided financing for over $496 million of energy efficiency and clean energy projects across various real estate sectors including affordable and market rate multifamily, commercial, industrial, and institutional. To date we have upgraded over 469 buildings and greened over 16,700 affordable housing units. We have developed 24 lending partners and helped create over 4,780 jobs. Our transactions have helped eliminate 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). Given its vision, NYCEEC has focused extensively on financing energy efficiency and clean energy projects in low- to moderate- income (LMI) communities, as these areas are often overlooked by traditional lenders.
