The Milford Street Captive was created by New York Affordable Housing for New York Affordable Housing. As such, the captive has a number of benefits tailored for New York Affordable Housing. For example, the captive will be able to recommend best-in-class risk control practices from the accumulated experience of all members and use its buying power to help reduce costs for implementing those recommendations. The captive will also be providing renewal credits for a portion of the insured's unused premium; if the captive got the price wrong, there is a mechanism to return some of the funds that would be the profit for typical insurers.
