The Office of University Outreach and Engagement (formerly “Academic Engagement”) was established in fall 2015 under the Office of the Provost to provide innovative, collaborative, and strategic leadership and support for the university's strategic priority of engagement with communities across the region, state, nation, and the world.
Engagement crosses all three missions – Research, Teaching, and Service – and ties to the work of Faculty, Staff, and Students. It involves members of the university and the community working together to address a community need or pressing societal issue, while leveraging academic expertise and resources with the knowledge and experiences of community partners in mutually beneficial and respectful ways.
