The field of transplantation is a rapidly evolving field. Since the first kidney transplant, over 60 years ago, the field of transplantation has changed immensely. In this highly complex trans-disciplinary field a comprehensive and collaborative team approach that encompasses; immunology, genetics, surgery, nephrology, intensive care, infectious diseases, pathology, psychology, pharmacology, dieticians, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, finance, and patient coordinators is paramount. Transplantation is constantly evolving at a pace that reflects the many specialties it encompasses. Clinicians must continue to keep abreast of industry changes effecting patient care. Lectures, given by internationally recognized experts, will educate on breakthroughs in the field and ways to deal with barriers to optimal care in kidney transplantation.
