This three-day virtual conference is designed to affirm the lives of older LGBTQ people and to educate senior service providers and others about the unique needs of this community.
Up to 12 CEUs are available for full attendance by social workers, marriage/family therapists and chemical dependency counselors* (see detailed info at the bottom of this screen). Credits for psychologists, administrators, and clergy will also be offered. Additionally, the Ohio Board of Nursing accepts events approved for counselors and social workers for continuing nursing education.
The event will feature keynote Arykah Carter, a trans woman of color serving on the board of TransOhio and TransSaints, working on the Black Trans Project, a photo exhibit designed to share the experiences of black trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary individuals. The event will also offer up to four sessions each day in addition to cultural opportunities, networking, and much more.
The 2020 LGBTQ Horizons event will continue the momentum we shared in 2019 when we had over 225 people from around Ohio and the Midwest join us in Dayton for two days of education, affirmation, and fun. We offered 18 different learning sessions and infused local LGBTQ culture with appearances from the Dayton Gay Men’s Chorus and The Rubi Girls, a social justice drag troupe that has raised millions of dollars over the years for HIV support, care, and service.
