Irving Arts Center presents a new
program of concurrent art/creativity workshops for persons with Alzheimer’s and other dementia related illnesses and their
caregivers.
While their family member or friend is participating in a separate Alzheimer’s Association art program (Memories in the Making®), caregivers will have the opportunity to relax, learn and engage with activities in the visual arts, music, and more offered in our series of Creative Arts Expressions Workshops.
Memories in the Making® (MIM) is a signature program of the Alzheimer’s Association developed to help people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia express themselves through art. The goals of the MIM program are to encourage recall and communication through painting, help participants achieve a process of creativity, increase self-esteem through the creation of something of value, provide sensory stimulation in a socially appropriate environment and provide an artistic diary of life that families can treasure.
Please Note: This is not a drop-off program. Caregivers are expected to remain on the premises and are encouraged to Memories in the Making® Workshops– Criteria for Participation |
The concurrent programs are offered quarterly on the third Tuesday, 10 – 11 a.m.
