Mental Health & Psychosocial Support in dynamic integration

FOCUS Living Well Together Forum II

The webinar will bridge research and practice by discussing both academic concepts and practical implications of social connections, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) as fundamental elements of dynamic integration.

With three experts, we will discuss the role of mental well-being and social cohesion for the integration of arriving and receiving communities, moving beyond the overstretched trauma and vulnerability framework and providing concepts and insights to support a community-development approach:

  • How can the basic concept of bonds, bridges and links be built in everyday integration practice?
  • What are the practical implications of these and other overarching concepts, such as empowerment, social connections or xenophobia, for integration work?
  • How can these ideas contribute to activating both arriving and receiving communities?

Join the discussion with:

FOCUS is a research project funded under the European Commission’s H2020 programme.

FOCUS aims to make an impact on both research and practice by understanding and improving the dynamics of integration in Jordan, Croatia, Germany and Sweden, with a special emphasis on how psychological and social factors influence integration. This knowledge is used to transform and strengthen existing promising practices for social- and labour market integration, that will be pilot tested in at least five European countries and will be brought together in the Living Well Together Resource. The goal of this Resource is to support policymakers, community actors, civil society organisation and other practitioners in the field in responding to the needs of both arriving and receiving communities with both insights and ways to address the needs. In addition, FOCUS has the ambition to link existing networks of policy and practice through common activities.
