2017 Comprehensive Educational Planning Conference for School and Leadership Teams
Diversity as a Pathway to Equity & Excellence For All





This year’s NYCDOE 2017 Comprehensive Educational Planning (CEP) Conference will support your school and district communities in the implementation of your comprehensive educational plan with a focus on diversity as a pathway to achieving equity and excellence. We encourage you to join your colleagues and members from other schools and districts across the city at the CEP conference from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, at the Prospect Heights High School Campus, 883 Classon Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225. To view highlights from last year’s conference, see the April 2016 CEP Conference Video on iPlan.

Workshop Details: Interactive workshop sessions are designed to support your school and district communities in the process of planning and implementing educational programs aligned with the Framework for Great Schools, and willalso focus on ways schools and districts can align programs to the newly released initiative on Equity and Excellence for All: Diversity in New York City Public Schools.

The same workshops are repeated in sessions 1 and 2 to give attendees an opportunity to choose 2 workshops they would like to attend during the conference. From 11:50 – 12:05 PM participants will be invited to visit a Grab & Go Lunch Pick Up station and then proceed to the first workshop.  The workshop times are posted as:

  • 12:05 - 1:15 PM    Workshop Session 1 (Working Lunch)
  • 1:25 - 2:35 PM      Workshop Session 2 (Repeat of Session 1 Workshops)

Transportation Information: For pick-up locations at one of several designated bus stops throughout the city where yellow buses will transport participants to and from the conference, and to reserve a seat, see this transportation link; seating is limited. MetroCards for public transportation are available upon request.

The Day will include:

  • A keynote address from Chancellor Carmen Fariña, regarding her recently released School Diversity Plan:Equity and Excellence for All: Diversity in New York City Public Schools. The address will outline ways to support diversity and inclusiveness to improve outcomes for all students and ensure that all stakeholders feel supported and welcomed. To leave a question for Chancellor Carmen Fariña to address during the keynote, see here;


  • A School Leadership Team/District Leadership Team Promising Practices panel, focusing on school and district collaborations and community engagement;


  • Innovative workshops that include promising practices for increasing equity and diversity through social-emotional learning, academic excellence, and family and community engagement; and


  • Student voices in support of their individual social-emotional needs to help inform the educational planning process.

A copy of the conference program will be emailed to you in early September to help you identify workshops that you would like to attend.

Please note, this conference will satisfy:

  • Two (2) hour training and four (4) School Leadership Team (SLT) hours that count towards remuneration for SLT members.
  • Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) requirements for teachers and administrators.
