Targeting the gaps in the current market and workforce, the International Insurance Risk and Leadership Symposium & NexGen Conference (IRLS) will establish Guam as a center for insurance education provided by the world's pioneers in insurance and risk management. By leveraging Guam's proximity to the Asia-Pacific's Insurance societies and adjacent markets, this event is a positive step toward creating continuity for Guam's insurance industry while providing a space for the region's professionals to collaborate and grow their expertise and business as well as introduce a new career path for future talent. This year's theme "Sharing Tomorrow in Insurance and Leadership" will address two major challenges facing the industry today: the increasing complexity of the regional market, and the growing need to develop new industry leaders. Long identified as a matter of great concern, the exodus of local talent from the island may only be solved through a comprehensive and progressive training program with the mission of enhancing the skills of current professionals and introducing a rewarding career path to future generations. IRLS is a two-day event consisting of a symposium for insurance professionals and a youth conference for local and international college students; by bringing these two groups together IRLS looks to create a long-lasting and cyclical institution in which the Region may grow and develop its insurance talent and workforce. This year's NexGen conference will also be hosting the NexGen Insurance Innovation Challenge-- Guam's first insurance specific, college-level innovation competition-- that calls on students to innovate tomorrow's insurance technology and customer experience.
Guam's Insurance Industry stands at a precipice that will determine the fortitude of our industry. IRLS is a call to action to help bridge the divide between those who have built the industry and the inheritors of this legacy with the focus of this under-served region.
