The African American Youth Leadership Conference (AAYLC) is back for its 30th Anniversary conference!! The 2023 conference will be IN-PERSON at Colorado College on March 4th, 2023. The theme this year is Generation Now - Emerging Leaders! This conference continues the AAYLC’s effort to cultivate diverse student leaders amongst middle and high schoolers. The conference provides innovative, creative, and expansive sessions that will inspire student empowerment, knowledge, opportunity, growth, and connections.


Sessions for the event will be divided into four (4) one-hour blocks. There will be two sessions in the morning and two in the afternoon. Topics will range from Leadership, College Preparation, Black History, and Entrepreneurship to S.T.E.A.M, Personal Growth, Financial Literacy, and Workforce Readiness.

If you’ve ever wondered how you can earn money doing something you love, this session is for you! Explore the pros and cons of entrepreneurship. Find out how building your own business can be just as rewarding as building someone else's.
You want to win? Want to have what you want? Do what you want? And be who you want. Do want to RULE? Well, it takes tools to be successful in these tough times today and it takes intentionality and focus for the future you want to have.
Learn how to make life goals, visualize your future self and learn the basic tools to help build your dreams. MUST ATTEND PART 1
Money Confident Kids is a financial education program. During our session we will follow Nikki from the seventh grade to her college graduation and beyond, as she sets important financial goals along her time horizon and works to achieve them.
The things you can't see can sometimes have the most explosive results! That's science! Come learn about how science is a part of our everyday lives including the air we breathe! This program will demonstrate the science of those things you can't see.
Using the wisdom and lived experiences of influential Black women, such as Octavia Butler, Audre Lorde & Bell Hooks, this session develops participants' skills in self-determination and the power of naming oneself. MUST ATTEND PART 2
Come learn the meaning of stage presence and how to have it! Just like Beyonce, discover what it takes to command attention and work a room.
Learn how to be to be a Certified Ethical Hacker. In this session you will learn how to be a good leader and empower your own path. You will learn practical skills to use in business and in everyday life.
Turnt up Dance Fitness is all about getting our bodies moving. Dance fitness makes exercise fun and exciting. Students will participate in this physical activity as a group while also having the opportunity to show off their own individual moves.
We will help you become more persuasive as you interact with your fellow students, teachers, parents, and others. Learn to make your arguments by asking questions, instead of just stating your position and your reasons for it.

Race and the judicial system have been at the forefront of the news. A panel will describe their encounters in the judicial system and discuss how to recognize racial bias and guard against it to promote justice.
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in partnership with the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities is engaging in conversations about mental health in the African American community. Learn to recognize mental health issues and how you can help.
BYOB is going to teach you how to do just that! Be your own boss! Come learn from a black, female, entrepreneur, under 30 years old. I will give you the REAL tips on building a successful small black owned business from the ground up!
Civic engagement encourages individuals to recognize and attempt to solve real problems as they develop their leadership skills.
In this session, attendees will go through an experimental lesson on growth mindset to analyze impact outcomes, circumstances, and tools that enable them to adopt a growth mindset.
