Brexit Strategies for British & European Civil Society Organisations
Workshop organised by the University of Exeter, Business School in collaboration with the CORE coalition and ECCJ

Brexit will affect the work of hundreds of civil society organisations based both in UK and in Europe. As the negotiations begin, there is an opportunity for CSOs to strategically coordinate their efforts in London and in Brussels, working for a meaningful outcome. This Workshop aims to help British and European CSOs to effectively respond to the policy and organisational challenges of Brexit.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Jennifer Zerk, internationally respected consultant, commentator and speaker. She has advised on a number of significant law reforms and policy initiatives, particularly in the area of business and human rights.
  • Costanza de Toma, has over fifteen year experience in international development devising and implementing effective advocacy strategies and campaigns in the UK, the EU and internationally.
  • Jerome Chaplier, Coordinator of ECCJ, European Coalition for Corporate Justice, Brussels, Belgium.
  • Swee Leng Harris, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at The Legal Education Foundation
  • Marilyn Croser, Director of the CORE Coalition

Following the panel of speakers, John Howell will run a series of tables of peer group discussions that will address both the opportunities and challenges of Brexit. Key issues to be discussed include: access to EU funding; changes in lobbying strategy; legal understanding of the Great Repeal Bill; post-Brexit relations with European organisations.
